We are getting ready to start another great swim season!!
As always, you must have completed three out-of-cove swims and contributed two helps in order to be qualified for Golden Gate and Alcatraz.
We are organizing the helpers into teams this year, with each team coordinated by a team captain.
The posted helps signup sheet will have slots for people to sign up for those teams but it will be up to the team captain to submit your name as having helped. Some teams just need a crew of able bodies, some teams have specific jobs that need doing. Please plan on checking with those team captains to be sure you know what is expected of you. You should count on a significant contribution for it to count as a help. It might even mean that you don?t swim that day, although in most cases you can arrange to help before and after if you are committed to being in on the swim. Keep in mind that the timers and pilots show up quite early and often stay for well over an hour after the last swimmer is in this might be as much as four to six hours of work to make our swims happen.
Of course piloting counts as a help and we are SOOOOO grateful to our spectacular pilots. Which is why we?re created a new pilot support team called Boat Partners. This will be an excellent way to help out, by assisting in launching and retrieving the boats, wiping them down, stowing them properly. Please consider joining this team once or twice this season.
We are not in any way trying to prevent people from getting helps. But as much as we all love to show up and swim, it takes a lot of work and preparation to put these swims on and YOUR participation is really appreciated, both in and out of the water.
For questions please contact the captain for each swim support team. Emails are below. For this swim we DO need two people to collect clothes and bring them back to the club, so someone with a large car would be the ideal candidate for one of those slots.
